Fair Play and Spectator Code of Conduct

The Board of Directors of Rye Soccer believes that conduct according to the spirit of Fair Play is essential for the successful development, promotion and involvement in sport.

 

The objective of Fair Play is to foster a sporting spirit, as well as the sporting behavior of coaches, players, team officials and spectators, thereby increasing the enjoyment of all those involved in the game.

Code of Conduct

Parents have a great influence on children’s enjoyment and success in soccer. All children play soccer because they first and foremost love the game. 

For the Player

+ Children enjoying soccer

+ A sense of personal achievement

+ Self-esteem

+ Improving the child’s skills and techniques

Parent or Guardian

Parents are encouraged to:

 

• Respect the opposition as well as your own team.

• Do not user foul language

• Avoid coaching the child during the game.

• Not to shout and scream in anger

• Respect the referee’s decision.

• Weapons of any kind are not allowed at the soccer fields unless it is a requirement of your profession. Off-duty or carrying permits do not allow for weapons on home or away properties.

Code of Conduct for Spectators

The crowd is an important component of a soccer game. The support of the fans may contribute to the success of the team. The crowd is expected to encourage the teams by supporting the teams/players in a positive non-abusive way in accordance with the spirit of Fair Play.

 

The spectators are expected to respect the opponents and the referee. Spectators should appreciate the performance of the opposition even if they emerge as winners. They should in no way intimidate or frighten opponents, the referee or opposing supporters.

Referee’s calls/decisions should be honored. No verbal protest or abuse by a spectator has resulted in the change of a call, therefore it shall not be allowed.  It is up to the coaches and captains to discuss the calls. The coach may offer a written protest after the game to the league. A parent/spectator shall not engage referee’s in with negative, abusive, or in a maligned way and may not protest the game directly.

Violation of Fair Play or Code of Conduct

A Parent/Spectator/Referee may anonymously report the sideline behavior to the coach(es).

 

If a parent/spectator breaks the rules of Fair Play, the coach(es) has the authority to call the Police and request removal from the games.

 

If at any time a parent resorts to physical action or violence against a Player, Coach, Referee, or Spectator, the police shall be called. The Board will consider dismal of the player during or after the practice/game in the interest of the safety of others.

 

The parent may not return and will be suspended for 2 consecutive games home or away, following the incident. If the parent does return in violation of the suspension, the police will be called and immediate removal from the field.

 

If a parent/spectator violates the spirit of Fair Play twice, they may no longer attend games for the remainder of the season and Rye Soccer Board and Coaches reserves the right to remove the player from the team for the safety of others.

 

By way of registering your child in the Seacoast Enrichment Association Not for Profit, dba Rye Soccer program, you legally agree to comply with Fair Play and this Code of Conduct without signature.

 

 

This document shall be live and be enforceable in perpetuity.
